Pre-Liminary Exercise

For the Pre Liminary exercise we decided to base our video on the idea of a young girl being poisoned by her "friend". This creates a scary atmosphere and tension for the viewers. The preliminary exercise had to consist of a tracking shot, match on action, over the shoulder edit.

Before we reached the process of filming and editing 'The Backstabber' as part of the early stages of film making a storyboard had to be completed. For the storyboard I drew in pencil so mistakes could easily be changed. Also, I included shot types, timing, dialogue and edits which would be included in the opening itself.

This is the exercise we completed during October 2014 to help familiarise us with the real thing which we will complete throughout the rest of the year.
As the genre we specifically chose to look at was belonging to the horror genre I decided to look at an opening of the number one horror film "Insidious 2" which is a follow on from the first Insidious film. I chose to look at this specific one because a lot of tension is built up at the beginning and we wanted the same effect on the viewers for our own production to make them feel scared and wary.

For the storyboard I grabbed inspiration from Insidious 2 to use a scary setting for example in the film extract it uses a big victorian house whereas in ours we use a graveyard both in which can be very haunting. We only used one main character as it shows that she is all alone and innocent compared to the two murderers who are after her.
